PARISH OF LEATHERHEAD
Ian Stonehouse, Assistant Curate 2016 to date

Profile of our new Curate - September 2015

Hi there, I am excited to be joining your church family next year. With my wife Beverley and 14 year old, son Kirk, I look forward to meeting you next summer when I take up my post as curate. My life has largely been guided by a passion for young people and a strong belief in incarnational Christianity, which has seen me living and working in my home town of Birmingham, Hampshire and Surrey. For the last 25 years I have been dedicated to Christian youth and families ministry, including the development of a Christian charity working in schools, starting a community youth project within a church plant on a new housing estate and more recently as the Youth & Children’s Director in the Surrey parish churches of Busbridge and Guildford. It was at Busbridge, that I explored God’s call on my life to ordained ministry and after a long discernment process and Bishop’s Panel, I started training at St. Mellitus College in London in 2013. May God bless you as you continue to serve Him in Leatherhead. Grace & Peace Ian

Ian was ordained on 3rd July, in the morning, at Charterhouse School Chapel, Godalming (Guildford Cathedral was closed for repairs at this time) and was greeted at our Evensong service that same evening.

He was priested in Guildford Cathedral on July 1st 2017.

He took the 10.30 Communion service in church the following day.

Leatherhead Parish Bulletin, March 2021

As you know, Ian Stonehouse finished his curacy in November last year. However, COVID restrictions made a farewell event in church impossible so our church family has created a wonderful book of photos and messages, which I gave Ian this week, along with an icon, a folded page book and a generous monetary gift. I know you will join me in wishing him and his family well wherever God leads them next.
