Pam O'Flynn Ward

Those of you who have been in Leatherhead some time may well remember Complete Car Service which was the garage on the corner of Church Road/Church Street where the Park View garage* is now. This was run and owned by John and Pam Ward for many years.

After the death of both her younger son and of John in the mid-70s, Pam carried on the garage very successfully with the help of Mick and Fred. She re-married, to Dennis O'Flynn, and many may remember being under his dentist's drill in Fetcham. They eventually moved to Newdigate. Pam was involved in many, many things in Leatherhead - Brownies, Guides, schools, Samaritans - and she was involved when five of us set up the first Playgroup in Leatherhead in the early 60s. It was she who introduced me to Young Wives and was very active in the Drama group that was set up.

Sadly Pam died a couple of weeks ago and by the very large congregation it was plain to see how many lives she had touched. She never stood any nonsense from anyone, young or old, was kindness itself and certainly believed in calling a spade a spade, or even a ***** spade. I, and a great many other people, not least her own and her extended family, will miss her very much. Frances Presley
