Music Group in 2005

This group of singers and musicians provides an alternative and contrast to more traditional church music.

The Music Group was formed about five years ago by singer/guitarist Hedley Kay with Chris Stagg (Bass); and Caroline (vocals) and Doug Waters (keyboard). They were later joined by Julie (vocals) and Martin West (guitar); Lara Accott and Lizzie Barrett (flautists) and Jane Haslam and Claire Price (vocals).

Hedley says “As our repertoire of modern and traditional hymns has grown, so has our friendship.

In addition to assisting in leading worship for the monthly family service, we will be taking part in additional services during 2004. We are very keen to develop our worship in a way that is meaningful to today’s congregations of all ages, being aware that we need to maintain a balance between good traditional and modern worship.

With our new sound system in place we are benefiting from the sound engineering skills of James Waters. This is a vital role and we will need to develop a rota of people to operate the sound desk.

Our Director of Music, David Oliver, has been a great help in arranging vocal harmonies and encouraging the group to develop musically.

We are very aware that all our musical gifts are from God and will continue to try and develop our worship in a way that pleases Him and helps others as they encounter His love through music.”

We focus on contemporary evangelical music & songs for a variety of services each month - see the Parish Church Calendar or the This Month link on the left of your screen.

New members are always welcome - please contact Hedley via the Parish Office L362544.
