What do The Friends do?
Primarily we raise money for projects that meet our aims. Since 1984 this amounts to projects worth well over £60,000 at current prices.
Sometimes we suggest projects - like this website. Sometimes we consider projects brought to us. In raising money for projects we also provide many social events for the parish.
Some of our fund raising ventures ...
| Coffee Mornings | Quiz Evening | Barbecues | Auction |
| Plant Sale | Coach Outing | Sponsored Walks | Entertainment evenings |
| Dramatic Productions in Church | Barn Dances | Concerts |
These are MAJOR fundraising efforts on behalf of the oldest building in Leatherhead - please support them
Friends Main Auction -
Saturday 16th March 2002
The Friends of the Parish Church held an Auction of various
gifted items in the Parish Church Hall on the morning of Saturday
16th March 2002, viewing commencing at 10am, auction of lots at
at 11.15am.
Silent Auction, and Supper
- the same day at 7pm, also in the Parish Hall: our next is in April 2005
Dinner was served before the Auction and the evening began 7.00
for 7.30 pm. Admission was by ticket only at £7.50 including
supper. Supper was served at 8pm - soup, cold meats, salads and
desserts. There was a cash bar - so there was no need to bring
drink or glasses. The bar will also had non-alcoholic drinks.
What is a 'Silent Auction'? :
A bidding list is provided beside each displayed item. If you
wish bid for that item you write your name on the next free line
on the list and how much you are prepared to bid - it must be
higher than the last bid.
Someone else may then come along and top your bid! So it is up to
you to keep up to date on the bidding for the items you would
really like and make sure that yours is the highest bid. Bids may
not be withdrawn.
After the supper and after notice has been given, all the lists
are collected, any 'postal' bids are opened and the highest
bidders for each item are announced.
Items are bought as described on the evening or seen. The Buyer
is the highest bidder known at the close of bidding. Any disputes
are settled by the Chairman, whose decision is final.
Arrangements for promises are between the provider and the
purchaser.
The Friends of Leatherhead Parish Church wish to thank all those
who donated lots for sale.
Our next Silent Auction in on April 16 2005.
In Autumn 2005 we have also revived our tradition of working parties in the churchyard.
