The Friends of Leatherhead Parish Church
Friends of Leatherhead
Parish Church - Chairman Ron Presley
I would like to report on a most successful day on 16th March
2002. The Public Auction raised the sum
of £3,100 with all 105 lots being sold. At the supper in the
evening the Silent Auction raised approximately
another £1700 and there are still some cheques and donations to
be collected. This should bring the grand total to over £5000. I
would like to thank everyone who donated items and who helped to
make the day so successful. Thanks must go to our most skilled
and professional auctioneer, Jim Lamden.
What is a 'Silent Auction'? :
A bidding list is provided beside each displayed item. If you
wish bid for that item you write your name on the next free line
on the list and how much you are prepared to bid - it must be
higher than the last bid.
Someone else may then come along and top your bid! So it is up to
you to keep up to date on the bidding for the items you would
really like and make sure that yours is the highest bid. Bids may
not be withdrawn.
After the supper and after notice has been given, all the lists
are collected, any 'postal' bids are opened and the highest
bidders for each item are announced.
Items are bought as described on the evening or seen. The Buyer
is the highest bidder known at the close of bidding. Any disputes
are settled by the Chairman, whose decision is final.
Arrangements for promises are between the provider and the
purchaser.
The Friends of Leatherhead Parish Church wish to thank all those
who donated lots for sale.
