Presentation to the Vicar to recall his being made an Honorary Canon of Guildford Cathedral - from the Parish Magazine

On making a presentation, to mark David's appointment as an Honorary Canon, Churchwarden Helena Hill said in church on 13th October 2002:

"As many of you will know, David was, last Sunday, installed as an Honorary Canon of Guildford Cathedral. Forty members of the congregation were there to share in a beautiful and memorable service. David wore the Millennium cope, and very splendid he looked!

The PCC felt that it was important that we should, as a church family, take this opportunity to congratulate him, and to say how delighted we all are that his Ministry should be recognised in this way. I am sure that you will agree that we are very blessed, as a Parish, to be in his pastoral care, and to have his leadership, his friendship and his teaching.

The PCC would like, on your behalf, to offer David two gifts to celebrate this special occasion. Firstly some Gift Tokens for Corbett's Bookshop, which we hope that he will enjoy using. Secondly, a framed photograph taken in the Cathedral after the service of David with a group of members of the Church Family, together with a set of other photographs - with his own family, with the Bishop, and with Briony. David we give you these gifts with love from us all."
